Communication Changes for Better Clarity

As attorneys we have a set of content in our minds that we’ve tied to a particular client matter. We tend to be pretty skilled at analysis and application of that content. But we are not so good at transferring that content from our minds to our clients’ minds.

How can we improve this, both individually and as an industry? A few small tweaks to how we communicate can make a tremendous and positive impact. Use visuals and provide the content to your client in a format they can review later AND understand (hint: use plain English and focus on effects, not legal technicalities).
